The Academy of Climate Ambassadors has successfully concluded its first training session in Durres, Albania in the dates 11 – 15 June 2023.
The Academy of Climate Ambassadors is an international education training program created as part of the REACT Project by the Institute of Romani Culture in Albania (IRCA) and Associazione di Promozione Sociale Giallo Sassi (Giallo Sassi) to educate young climate ambassadors to support vulnerable communities, such as the Roma minority in Albania and the Miglionico community in Italy, in mitigating the effects of Climate Change combining culture and art in their climate actions.
The first training session of the Academy was hosted in Durres, Albania, and was organized by the Institute of Romani Culture in Albania (IRCA). 20 Italian young climate ambassadors and 1 representative from Giallo Sassi travelled to Albania and participated to the 2-days training and 1-day field inspection in the community in Durres together with the Albanian young climate ambassadors.
The next session of the Academy will be organized in Matera, Italy, in the dates 19 – 23 June 2023. It this occasion, 20 Albanian youngsters and 1 representative from IRCA will travel to Italy to participate to the 2-days training event and 1-day field inspection in the community in Miglionico in Matera (Italy) together with Italian youngsters to see the effects of the Climate Change in the people’s lives.
These training sessions serve as a pivotal platform to nurture the potential of young activists, empowering them to become catalysts of transformative change. By equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge, the Academy of Climate Ambassadors strives to amplify their capacity to tackle climate-related challenges, utilizing culture and art as powerful instruments in their pursuit of sustainable solutions.
